With Canada facing a growing literacy crisis – four in ten Canadian adults have literacy skills too low to be fully competent in most jobs – we rely on the support of passionate community members like you to help us make a difference.

Your generosity will be used towards continuing the following activities:

Public Education

We provide public education, and work to raise awareness about the importance of literacy issues with the public and with our partners.

Information and Referral

Through an online presence, rack cards, and other information tools, we provide program information, guidance and direction to individuals who are looking for a program to help improve their skills.

Professional Development

We provide support, training and resources to the Literacy and Basic Skills (LBS) programs we work with. Workshops, seminars, forums and resource materials are shared with our network to help improve the delivery of effective LBS programs in our network.

Community Planning

We collaborate with literacy service providers in the region to coordinate services and achieve common standards on assessment and practice so that the needs of adult learners are properly addressed. A top priority is to ensure that people with literacy and skills upgrading needs are aware of and have access to the programs they need.

Each year, with the Employment Services, local employment and planning boards and LBS service providers, we develop Annual Literacy Service Plans. This work is supported by our primary funder, the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development. With profiles and statistics from each LBS program, the Literacy Service Plan informs solutions to literacy and basic skills programming needs in the region.

Research & Development

We look for opportunities to support literacy research and development projects that help inform the field and support the ongoing development of effective and innovative programs.

Communications and Collaboration

We hold meetings for Literacy and Basic Skills providers and our other partners, including the Ontario government, employment centres, social service agencies and community organizations that work with adults to share information, provide program updates, and other relevant labour market trends.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Can I make a large donation?” style=”rounded_outline” color=”pink” el_id=”1479735676210-7bb97a3a-680d”]In short, yes, you are welcome to make any size of donation you wish.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Will I Receive a Tax Receipt?” style=”rounded_outline” color=”orange” el_id=”1479735982358-734b5ea4-f69d”]Yes.  ROVLN is a registered charity and will provide a tax receipt to everyone who makes a donation.[/vc_toggle][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_single_image image=”664″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
