Online Training

e-Channel is a web-based means of delivering Literacy and Basic Skills (LBS) training that broadens delivery options and improves access for adult learners. They can follow one of the five goal paths (independence, employment, secondary school credit, apprenticeship and postsecondary) identified under the Ontario Adult Literacy Curriculum Framework (OALCF) in any of the four streams, Anglophone, Francophone, Aboriginal and Deaf (coming soon).

e-Channel delivers self-directed and supported learning for people who may face barriers that restrict them from participating in face-to-face LBS programs.  It can provide better access to service for persons with disabilities and people who live in rural and remote communities. And learners who are already enrolled in LBS programs can access e-Channel in order to supplement their learning online.

For learners to have the best chance of success with online learning, they must have some proficiency in using computers before they enroll in any courses.  Designated LBS service providers deliver and administer e-Channel.  They can help learners determine whether they have the skills necessary to benefit from e-Channel delivery.

The following is a brief overview including contact information for organizations offering e-Channel courses:
